Originally, Lorelle trained as a Primary School teacher, and she taught for 23 years both in state and private education institutions. She also taught classroom music and has a passion for singing and playing.

In 1996, Lorelle commenced training as a counsellor, and continued her studies until she gained her Master of Counselling in 2004 from QUT. She left teaching to pursue further study in 1998, and began working for Queensland Baptist Care as a Counsellior and Trainer. She was the Manager of Counselling and Training at Queensland Baptist Care from 2006 to 2011. Her position entailed counselling, managing staff, facilitating workshops and training students.

Lorelle began lecturing in pastoral care and counselling at Malyon College in 2006. She has completed over 3000 hours of individual and relationship counselling and over 400 hours of clinical supervision. She is an individual, relationship and family counsellor and has undertaken training in Gestalt, Body-Focussed and Emotionally Focussed Models of counselling. She has an ongoing clinical practice in individual, and relationship counselling and counsellor supervision and conducts workshops in South East Queensland. She is a clinical member of the Australian Association of Relationship Counsellors and the Society of Counselling and Psychotherapy Educators.
