Don is an ordained Baptist pastor who originally trained through Malyon College. He pastored six churches in his forty years of pastoral ministry, and is currently serving as an associate pastor of the Keperra Baptist Church.

Don taught several subjects at Malyon as a visiting lecturer, before becoming a full time lecturer in a Tasmanian Bible college in 2000. In 2005 he returned to Queensland to teach New Testament and Theology at the Garden City College of Ministries in Mt Gravatt, and subsequently at Harvest Bible College's Gold Coast campus.

Don holds an MA in theology and a PhD in religion studies from the University of Queensland. His PhD dissertation was a defence of substitutionary atonement with a major focus on the works of Leon Morris.
