Bob grew up in Melbourne and completed an Apprenticeship as a Mechanic in Civil Aviation. In 1980 he graduated from the Bible College of Victoria and commenced with Everyman’s Welfare Service, a Christian ministry to the Australian Defence Force. His service included time with the troops in Cambodia in 1993.

In 1994 Bob was called as Youth Pastor to Stafford Heights Baptist Church. In 1997 he returned to Everyman’s as Executive Director where he received a Centenary of Federation Medal in recognition of services to the Defence Force in 2001.

He again took up studies, graduated with a BMin and was ordained in 1999. He received an MA(Th) in 2004 and commenced lecturing with the Calam Institute and at Malyon College in 2005. In 2009 he commenced further study and was accepted into the MPhil program (Practical Theology) at Queensland University studying how the Australian church can better meet the needs of men.

In 2006 he again accepted a call to Stafford Heights Baptist Church, this time as Senior Pastor, and continues in that role.
