Entry Requirements

There are a number of personal and academic requirements for people seeking entry to Malyon College.

Personal

Normally applicants should be at least 19 years of age. However, applications may be received from younger persons who clearly demonstrate acceptable levels of maturity and commitment to Christian service.

Applicants should exhibit a level of maturity. They should have a desire to serve God, be emotionally stable, be able to exercise self-discipline, and having some basic Bible knowledge is an advantage. Ideally they should have had some Christian service experience, normally in the local church, and, if they are heading towards pastoral ministry, have had their leadership potential confirmed by their church. Brand new Christians are advised to make sure that they have had a chanceĀ  be established in their faith before they apply.

Christians belonging to all denominations are welcome to apply for admission.

Academic

The basic entry awards of the Bachelor of Ministry or Theology require normal University entrance criteria with an OP13 (Queensland Schools) or a AUI 75 (other Australian States). However as most of our applicants are not "school leavers", they usually fall under the category of "mature age" applicants which is now defined as being over 21 years of age. For mature age entry no specific prior academic requirements are required but Malyon needs to be satisfied of the applicant's ability to satisfactorily complete the course.

For higher level courses there are specific prerequisits listed under the individual awards.
