Online (Distance) Learning at Malyon

Malyon offers you high quality Online (Distance) learning. You can undertake a two year Associate Degree, three year Bachelor of Ministry degree, or a one year Graduate Diploma of Divinity, all from your home.

Malyon provides you with easy access to content, readings, quizzes and other resources you will need for the course through our online Moodle learning environment. You are also able to engage with teachers and other students either through Moodle forums or by telephone or email.

Malyon has a fulltime Online Content Developer to support your learning and ensure the quality of the content is of the highest standard. Contact Ian Hussey on 07 3354 5668 or by This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it if you have any questions about Online learning at Malyon.

You will need to set aside time each week to read the Study Guide and textbook (if the Unit has one), to regularly engage with online discussion forums, to reflect on what you've learned, and to do the assessment tasks. It will vary from student to student, but you should allow roughly 6–10 hours each week during semester for each unit you undertake.

You can audit any of the units, meaning you can participate in discussion, but without having to submit assessment. The usual entry criteria and (discounted) costs for auditing a Malyon subject apply to our online units. Online students are also welcome to come and attend equivalent classroom lectures when able.

For enrolment details go the enrolment page.

Graduate Online Units

Students can complete 8 of the above units at the 500 or 600  level to complete the Graduate Diploma (GradDipDiv) or the first year of a Master of Divinity (MDiv). According to ACT regulations, only one year of an ACT MDiv may be completed in online mode. Students wishing to complete the MDiv will therefore need to change to attendance mode. Students who would like a wider range of distance unit options can choose from the broad variety of units offered by other ACT distance providers without changing colleges. Contact the Registrar if you want further information.

Postgraduate Online Units

Malyon offers five Master of Arts in Ministry (MAMin) units by distance over a two year cycle. Combined with a two unit project, this allows almost the whole MA(Min) (7 out of 8 units) to be completed by onlinne study. The units offered are primarily designed for pastors and church leaders who find attendance difficult, but we also have a number of overseas mission leaders completing the MA(Min) online. All our other MA units are offered by one week intensives (with significant pre-intensive preparation and post-intensive assignments).

In 2011 we offered the following distance units:

Semester 1
PC779 - Advanced Pastoral Relationships

Semester 2
PC754 - Pastoring in the 21st Century
CH759 - Denominational History (Baptist) [theological emphasis]
PC762 - Denominational History (Baptist) [history emphasis]
