Master of Divinity / GradDip Divinity
(refer ACT Graduate & Postgraduate Handbook)
The Master of Divinity (MDiv) is a 3 year first degree in theology for graduates in disciplines other than theology. That means applicants must have a recognised University degree in any area other than theology/religion. The Graduate Diploma of Divinity is a one year full-time course and is basically the first year of the MDiv.
The course work of the MDiv/GradDipDiv is virtually identical to the undergraduate degrees of BMin/BTh but students are expected to study at a higher level and think more critically about their units. These courses will share lectures with the BMin/BTh but generally have separate tutorials and require more advanced assignment submissions. The MDiv also requires a significant 8 credit research project or study of at least one 8 credit Master of Arts unit. Like the BMin(Hons)/BTh(Hons), the MDiv offers the possibility of direct entry to a research Master of Theology if passed with a 2.8 or higher GPA and a distinction in their 8 credit project.
