Course Summary

Malyon primarily offers the Australian College of Theology suite of awards as detailed below.  However, any unit in any award can be taken for a much reduced fee as an "audit" allowing full participation but giving no credit to any award.

A. Undergraduate Courses (requiring no previous teriary study)

1. ACT Bachelor of Ministry (3 years - 24 units)

The BMin is the most popular award for students who do not have a degree. It provides a helpful balance of Bible, theology, history, practical ministry and missions units.

2. ACT Bachelor of Theology (3 years - 24 units)

The BTh focuses more on biblical/theological units and calls for at least one year of Greek study. It’s popular with students wanting to study the Bible more intensely.

3. ACT Associate Degree of Theology (2 years - 16 units)

The Associate Degree in Theology provides a good grounding in foundational biblical and theological areas. It requires a research project.

B. Graduate Courses (requiring a previous degree)

1. ACT Master of Divinity (3 years - 24 units)

The MDiv course content is similar to that of the BTh, but at a higher academic standard. It is very popular with students who already have a degree in another discipline.

2. ACT Graduate Diploma of Divinity (1 year - 8 units)

The GradDipDiv is the first year of an MDiv. It has the advantage that students can choose units from anywhere in the curriculum.

3. ACT Master of Arts (Christian Studies) (2 years - 16 units)

The MA(ChrStuds) aims to enable students who have a degree to apply a Christian perspective and commitment to their life in the world, including their professional and vocational life.

4. ACT Graduate Diploma in Christian Studies (1 year - 8 units)

The GradDipChrStuds is the first year of the MA(ChrStuds).

C. Postgraduate Courses (requiring a previous theological degree)

1. ACT Master of Arts (Ministry or Theology) (2 years - 8 units)

The MA(Min) is designed to develop and apply the principles learned in a student’s primary theological or ministry degree to the practices of Christian ministry and leadership.

The MA(Th) is designed build on the principles learned in a student’s primary theological or ministry degree in a deeper study and application of Bible and theology.

2. ACT Graduate Diploma of Ministry or Theology (1 year - 4 units)

The GradDipMin/Th is the first year of the MA(Min/Th).

3. ACT Master of Theology (research)

The MTh is a significant research project designed for students with a BTh(Hons) or BMin(Hons), a quality MDiv, or an MA(Th or Min).

4. Malyon Pastoral Award (6 units)

The Pastoral Award is mainly designed for Baptist pastors pursuing ordination. It covers the same units as an MA but the assessment load is much lighter.
